Downtown Crenshaw Rising is a people-powered effort to purchase and rehabilitate an active mall and its 43 acres of land, which is located in the heart of South Los Angeles, a historically Black community that is rapidly being gentrified. The opportunity to purchase this property will enable local Black community members to cooperatively own and develop the space in a way that builds shared cultural identity, economic opportunity, and strong social ties through shared commerce. AmbitioUS is providing a one-year general operating support grant for Downtown Crenshaw Rising.
