The East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative (EB PREC) is taking land and property in Oakland off the speculative market in order to put ownership in the hands of African American community members. Their displacement as a result of gentrification would not just be a problem for Black Oaklanders, it would be a loss of cultural identity for all Americans. AmbitioUS is providing a one-year renewal grant to support EB PREC with its cooperative ownership structure that benefits and retains African American communities in Oakland, CA, and their shared cultural identity.
