Solidaire Network

Solidaire Network (Solidaire) is a progressive donor network of high-net worth individuals and institutional funders that mobilize financial resources to support social and racial justice movements and organizations striving for systemic change. Solidaire serves BIPOC-led grassroots organizations and frontline organizers disproportionately impacted by systemic injustices by channeling resources to urgent needs, innovative ideas, and long-term movement infrastructure by pooling funds from individual and institutional donors. Through its collaborative approach to philanthropy and advocacy for justice-centered approaches to giving, Solidaire is ramping up the impact of communities and grassroots movements working to create a more just and equitable world for all. In late 2023, Solidaire joined AmbitioUS, Grantmakers for Southern Progress in co-hosting a virtual book discussion for funders and movement leaders that featured Dr. Jessica Gordon-Nemhard’s Collective Courage: A History of African American Cooperative Thought and Practice. Funders attending the event heard from Dr. Jessica Gordon-Nembhard as well as frontline practitioners about capital, relational, and infrastructure issues faced by the modern cooperative movement, and the role philanthropy can play in supporting alternative economic structures. AmbitioUS provided $25,000 as a one-year general operating grant to be part of this community that shares a similar vision and set of values.
