Independent workers lack access to the protections and benefits that employed workers receive. The Freelancers Union is inspired by SMartEU, a platform-based cooperative that provides independent workers with protections and benefits in Europe. AmbitioUS provided support for the Freelancers Union to host two public workshops for independent, gig, and freelance workers on the benefits of and how to work as a cooperative in the U.S.
