Independent workers lack access to the protections and benefits that employed workers receive. The U.S. Federation for Worker Cooperatives (USFWC) is inspired by SMartEU, creating a platform-based cooperative that will collectivize  independent workers with protections and benefits could help the growing independent workforce access the supports they need.
